font-weight: bold;"><b>ภาคเหนือ</b></span><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"> ประกอบด้วย 17 จังหวัด ได้แก่ จังหวัด กำแพงเพชร เชียงราย เชียงใหม่ นครสวรรค์ ตาก น่าน พะเยา พิจิตร พิษณุโลก เพชรบูรณ์ แพร่ แม่ฮ่องสอน ลำปาง ลำพูน สุโขทัย อุตรดิตถ์ และ อุทัยธานี มีพื้นที่รวม 169,644.3 ตารางกิโลเมตร หรือประมาณ 106 ล้านไร่</span><br /><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">จากหลักฐานการขุดค้นทางโบราณคดีของกรมศิลปากรและเอกสารอื่น ๆ พอสรุปได้ว่า ในอดีตภาคเหนือแบ่งออกเป็น 2 อาณาจักร กับ 1 แคว้น คือ</span><br /><img style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);" src="http://www.hotelsthailand.com/north/chiangrai/images/doitung.jpg" align="left" height="127" width="185" /><br /><b style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">1. อาณาจักรโยนก</b><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"> เป็นอาณาจักรที่เกิดก่อนอาณาจักรล้านนา ช่วงเวลาที่ก่อตั้งอาณาจักรไม่ปรากฏแน่ชัด แต่มาสิ้นสุด ในพุทธศตวรรษที่ 17 โดยมีพระเจ้าสิงหนวัติ เป็นผู้ก่อตั้ง มีศูนย์กลางการปกครองอยู่ที่เมืองเชียงแสน (อำเภอเชียงแสน จังหวัดเชียงราย) มีกษัตริย์สืบต่อมาหลายพระองค์ และได้เสียเอกราชให้ขอม ในสมัยพระเจ้าพังคราช ต่อมาพระเจ้า พรหมกอบกู้เอกสารคืนมาได้ และได้สร้างเมืองขึ้นใหม่บริเวณที่แม่น้ำฝางและแม่น้ำกกบรรจบกัน เรียกว่า เมืองไชยปราการ และประทับอยู่จนสิ้นพระชนน์ อาณาจักรโยนกจึงเสื่อมและสิ้นลง</span><br /><p class="txtcc0000" style="font-size: 13px; text-align: left; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"><img src="http://www.hotelsthailand.com/images/template/open_north.jpg" height="170" width="252" /></p><br /><img style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);" src="http://www.hotelsthailand.com/north/chiangmai/images/wat.jpg" align="left" height="119" width="183" /><b style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">2. อาณาจักรล้านนา หรือ ลานนา</b><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"> พระเจ้าเม็งราย โอรสของพระเจ้าลาวเม็ง กษัตริย์เมืองหิรัญนครเงินยางเป็นผู้ก่อตั้ง ดังข้อความจารึกไว้ที่ฐานอนุสาวรีย์ของ ท่านที่อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดเชียงรายว่า "พ่อขุนเม็งราย ประสูติ พ.ศ.1782 ทิวงคต เมื่อ พ.ศ. 1860 ทรงสร้างเมืองเชียงรายขึ้นเป็นเมืองแรก เมื่อ พ.ศ. 1805 ทรงรวบรวม อาณาจักรล้านนาให้เป็นปึกแผ่น และทรงสร้างความสามัคคีระหว่างชนชาติไทย"</span><br /><p style="text-align: left; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"><img style="width: 404px; height: 284px;" src="http://www.thaitrip.com/culture/nov.jpg" alt="ลอยโคม" /></p><br /><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">เมื่อทรงครองราชย์ ในปี พ.ศ. 1802 ได้รวมหัวเมืองใกล้เคียงไว้ด้วยกัน ยกเว้นเมืองพะเยา ซึ่งพญางำเมืองครองอยู่ และดินแดนของพ่อขุนรามคำแหงมหาราช โดยกษัตริย์ทั้ง 3 พระองค์ ได้ทรงกระทำสัตยปฏิญาณว่าจะเป็นมิตรไมตรีต่อกัน</span><br /><br /><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">พระองค์ทรงสร้างเมืองเชียงราย เมืองฝาง และยึดครองแคว้นหริภุณชัย เมืองลำปาง และได้สร้างเมืองเวียงกุมกาม (อำเภอสารภี จังหวัดเชียงใหม่) จากนั้นจึงทรงสร้างเมืองใหม่ ให้เป็นศูนย์กลางการปกครองแคว้นล้านนาที่ทรงรวบรวมมา ได้บริเวณริมแม่น้ำปิงไปจนถึงดอยสุเทพ ซึ่งเป็นที่ราบอันอุดมสมบูรณ์ และขนานนามว่า "นพบุรีศรีนครพิงค์ เชียงใหม่" เสร็จเรียบร้อยเมื่อ พ.ศ. 1839 (ก่อนกรุงศรีอยุธยา 54 ปี กรุงศรีอยุธยาสร้างเมื่อ พ.ศ.1893) แล้วประทับอยู่ตลอดพระชนม์ชีพ</span><br /><br /><b style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">3. แคว้นหริภุณชัย หรือ ลำพูน</b><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"> ซึ่งอยู่บริเวณลุ่มแม่น้ำปิงและแม่น้ำวัง ทางด้านตะวันตกของเทือกเขาผีปันน้ำ </span><br /><span class="txtRed" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-weight: bold;"><b>ลักษณะภูมิประเทศ</b></span><br /><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"> ลักษณะภูมิประเทศของภาคเหนือเป็นทิวเขาทอดยาวจากเหนือลงมาใต้ ทิวเขาที่สำคัญได้แก่ ทิวเขาถนนธงชัย เป็นทิว เขาที่ใหญ่และยาวที่สุดของภาคเหนือ มียอดเขาสูงเป็นอันดับหนึ่งของประเทศคือ ยอดเขาดอยอินทนนท์ อยู่ในจังหวัด เชียงใหม่ สูงจากระดับน้ำทะเล 2,565 เมตร ทิวเขาแดนลาวกั้นเขตแดนไทยกับพม่า มียอดเขาสูงเป็นอันดับสองของ ประเทศคือ ยอดดอยผ้าห่มปก อยู่ในอำเภอแม่อาย มีความสูง 2,297.84 เมตร และยอดดอยหลวงเชียงดาว สูง 2,222 เมตร เป็นอันดับ 3 อยู่ในจังหวัดเชียงใหม่เช่นกัน และยังมีทิวเขาขุนตาล ทิวเขาผีปันน้ำตะวันตก ทิวเขานี้อยู่ระหว่างแม่น้ำ วังกับแม่น้ำยม ทิวเขาผีปันน้ำตะวันออก อยู่ระหว่างแม่น้ำยมกับแม่น้ำน่าน ทิวเขาหลวงพระบาง กั้นเขตแดนระหว่างไทย กับลาว ทิวเขาเหล่านี้ประกอบไปด้วยภูเขาใหญ่น้อยมากมาย เช่น ดอยอินทนนท์ ดอยขุนตาล ภูชี้ฟ้า ภูผาตั้ง และยังเป็นที่อยู่ อาศัยของชาวเขาเผ่าต่างๆ ได้แก่ กะเหรี่ยง ม้ง มูเซอ เย้า อีก้อ และลีซอ</span><br /><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">ส่วนพื้นที่ราบบริเวณหุบเขาและแถบลุ่มแม่น้ำปิง วัง ยม น่าน ลุ่มน้ำกก และน้ำอิง มีความอุดมสมบูรณ์เหมาะแก่การ เพาะปลูกข้าว และพืชไร่ รวมทั้งไม้ผลหลากหลายชนิด</span><br /><span class="txtRed" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);
